WWW Design

We can first of all help you to understand how your business could exploit the Internet and can introduce you to the way in which other companies in similar businesses are using the Internet. We can then lay out a plan for the best way for you to present your company's information and market your online presence.

We can incorporate existing design elements such as company logo's, artwork, text, with new materials such as an interactive guest book or online order forms. We can host your site with your own domain name to give you an edge over your competitors. Whatever you require, we can accommodate your needs, with first rate design at economical prices.

In addition, we can help you to keep your site fresh and dynamic by providing you with the skills you need to update your site by yourself through our Web Development Training Courses. Or we can offer you an Update Service on a weekly, monthly or annual basis if you so wish.


Hosting

Once your site has been designed it needs to be made available to the general public 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In order for this to be possible you site needs to be "hosted". This means that it must be placed on a computer called a server which has a permanent connection to the Internet at all times.

We can provide you with enough space to host your pages on our server which is a Windows 2000 advanced server, offering any facilities that you may require. Your web site address would then be something like www.about-ireland.com./yoursite/

We can also provide you with what is known as a Virtual server account. Here you will have a web site address that is based on your own company name, such as www.yourcompany.com or www.yourcompany.ie

To have a virtual server account you need to have your domain name registered. We can take care of all the necessary details for you.


Web Design Training

We offer a one-day course in Web Design. This course will be useful to people who already know about the World Wide Web (WWW) and are ready to proceed to the next stage, creating or updating their own documents.

What You Will Learn

In this course, participants learn by doing. A series of hands-on exercises conveys the basics of Web page authoring.

We begin by creating a simple Web page. As the course progresses, more techniques are applied and the simple page grows and has features added, including paragraphs, lists, horizontal rules, font changes, hyper-links, images, and special characters. Techniques for adapting existing ("legacy") documents are practised. Participants who have their access to web space will also learn how to publish their documents onto the Internet.

Domain Naming

A Domain Name is the name used to identify a server on the Internet. Our domain name is "about-ireland.com", which is made up of our company name and an abbreviation for Company (.com). Other domain names use the likes of .ie such as martec.ie (Our sister company in Galway)

A unique domain name is very useful for helping potential customers to find the location of your web site easily and also for simplifying complex email addresses. Instead of having a single email address like yourchoice@eircom.net or yourchoice@indigo.ie you can have multiple email addresses which are unique to your company, such as:
